Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus, was brought up by Tish Cyrus Billy Ray Cyrus, and her brothers and sisters in Thompson's Station in Tennessee. There are five siblings in her family: Two half-brothers, a half sister, and a younger sibling and brother. Her parents chose her name because they believed she could achieve greatness. Her nickname from childhood, Smiley, due to her cheerful personality later changed to Miley. Her maternal grandfather was Democratic politician Ron Cyrus. Cyrus started her schooling at Heritage Elementary School. Her family moved out of Tennessee and into Toronto Canada at the age of eight years old, and Billy Ray Cyrus took on a part in Doc (2001) in which she was the main character on the TV show. Cyrus made the decision to start acting around that moment. The first time she acted was alongside her dad in Doc (2001). Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003), where she starred in a smaller role as a child, also had a great success. Cyrus played as a character in Hannah Montana (2006) (a Disney show about a teenage woman who lives a double life as a performer) as the main character. Again, her father joined her on screen. The show went down a storm and record sales, sell-out tours and merchandising deals soon followed. Cyrus became an overnight teen sensation. Cyrus started to play various roles in the wake of her popularity with Hannah Montana (2006). These included playing Ronnie Miller (in The Last Song 2010, 2010) and Lola (in LOL (2012)) as well as Demi Moor.
